Things Could Always Be Worse
Feeling down about our current economic meltdown? Worried about your future, or your children’s future, or the future of our whole damn civilization? Feel like the world is going to hell in a hand basket quicker than you can say Jack Robinson? Then take a look through this photo gallery of Pripyat, the abandoned Chernobyl workers town, and remember: things could always be worse.
Pripyat, Ukraine, was an industrial city that once housed Chernobyl’s large workforce. It has been abandoned and radioactive for some 23 years now, gradually sinking into ruin and decay. There is something hauntingly beautiful about these images despite the fact that they seem to sing of how very quickly we humans can be erased and how little we leave behind. Feel better yet?
