Everlovin' and This Morning

By Henry Kastler

an error in proposal
but not in delivery
this time it's accurate

and valid, stamped
with an expiration date
no one Earthside can read

to counter, in the making
of new nakedness
the everlovin' and the everlovin'

play and grow close
in all seriousness
a balm of innocence

a lullaby to the insomniacs
and peace for the wicked
as sure as rain

in monsoon season; elsewhere
people have recorded
'all sunshine makes a desert'

and you've been saving
for a rainy day ever
since you woke up this morning.
